Special Kids Photography opens in
LA
What's the big
deal about the presence of Special Kids Photography in LA? Well, it is a big
deal if LA stands for Latin America and not Los Angeles. A few months
ago, SKPA was contacted by Rubens Vieira (www.rubensvieira.com),
a photographer in Curitiba, Brazil. He was extremely excited about what
SKPA is doing in the United States and wanted to begin a similar program
in Brazil and, eventually, all of Latin America. His enthusiasm led to making it
possible for a training held in his hometown of Curitiba, a modern
metropolis about an hour's plane flight from Sao Paulo.

The group of Latin American organizers
flank Karen Dórame, executive director for Special Kids Photography of
America. Left to right are Mino (www.fotosdomino.com), Claudia Regina (www.claudiaregina.com),
Melina de Souza (see Facebook), and team leader, Rubens Vieira (www.rubensvieira.com).

At the end of the
workshop, held August 12, a television crew showed up to catch footage
for a later interview. Rubens was excited to report
that SKP-LA had already been contacted by a well-known Brazilian wedding
photographer, Vinicius Matos (www.viniciusmatos.com),
from Minas Gervais, the third largest metropolitan area of the country.
He was reportedly very excited about receiving workshop training.
Several sponsors have already come onboard to support the cause in Latin
America.

Curitiba is a modern city with a much
better reputation for safety than Rio de Janeiro. It is replete with
modern malls and well-dressed citizens. Children learn English in the
schools and most people are anxious to practice the language with
visitors from the States. Local cuisine in mall eateries/restaurants
represents a varied selection of dishes from all continents and
ethnicities.
